Want A Nose Job But Afraid You Won't Like The Result? 2 Tips For Successful Surgery

The shape of your nose affects the appearance of your entire face, so when considering a rhinoplasty procedure, you may worry that you won't like the final result. Unlike a procedure like belly liposuction, where the end result of a flat belly is easy to imagine in your mind, there are many ways your nose can be re-shaped. This makes great communication between you and your cosmetic surgeon extremely important when planning your rhinoplasty. Here are three tips for ensuring that the final look of your nose after rhinoplasty makes you as happy as it does your surgeon.

1. Remain Open to Your Surgeon's Suggestions

While you may have an image in your mind, or even a photo on hand, of what you consider the "perfect nose" when you begin your rhinoplasty consultation, realize that a nose that looks "perfect" on one person's face may not look so great on a face that is shaped differently and has a different mouth, eyes, and cheekbones. So, if your surgeon suggests that your image of a great nose may not be what he or she imagines would look best on your face, really take it to heart and don't dismiss this advice.

Also, there are limitations to how much certain aspects of your nose can really be changed, since the final result must not only look nice, but also must function well as an organ. Your nose performs the important jobs of helping you breathe, smell, and filter the air to protect your lungs. For example, if you have a larger nose that you want to turn into a button-nose, it may simply not be possible to alter the size of it so much without affecting its ability to perform its important jobs.

2. Work with a Surgeon Who Utilizes 3D Imaging

Technology has brought great tools your cosmetic surgeon can use to help you communicate with each other when deciding what the perfect nose for you really looks like. When obtaining a rhinoplasty and afraid of a final result you may not like, it is important to work with a surgeon who uses 3D imaging software to show you what your final nose will really look like on your face. To begin the 3D imaging process, your surgeon will first take several photos of your current face from different angles. (Soon, surgeons may even be able to take these photos right on their smartphone). These photos are then uploaded into a special computer program that then turns the photos into a 3D image of your face that appears on the screen.

Just seeing your face on the screen can be very exciting, but that is not the best part. You can then work with your surgeon to virtually "try on" different changes to your nose. Unlike when surgery if being performed on the operating table, every change is reversible and can be altered until you and your surgeon find a look that you both love and that your surgeon knows will still allow your nose to function well.

Rhinoplasty surgery can really improve your life if you suffer from low self-confidence and self-esteem due to your appearance. For more information, contact Plastic Surgery Innovation PC or a similar location.
